In response to the escalating threat of cyberattacks targeting production facilities, Siemens introduces a cutting-edge cybersecurity software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution, SINEC Security Guard. Designed to revolutionize cybersecurity management in operational technology (OT) environments, this cloud-based software provides automated vulnerability mapping and security management specifically tailored for industrial operators.

SINEC Security Guard leverages intuitive cloud-based technology to streamline the identification and mitigation of cybersecurity vulnerabilities on the shop floor. By automatically correlating known vulnerabilities with production assets, the software empowers industrial operators and automation experts to swiftly identify risks and receive comprehensive threat analyses, even without specialized cybersecurity expertise. With prioritized mitigation measures and integrated task management, users can efficiently address vulnerabilities, enhancing overall security while minimizing manual effort.

One of the distinctive features of SINEC Security Guard is its seamless integration with Microsoft Sentinel, a cloud-native Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solution. This integration enables proactive threat detection and response, allowing security analysts to incorporate SINEC Security Guard insights into investigations and responses within Microsoft Sentinel-powered Security Operations Centers.

“With SINEC Security Guard, customers can focus their resources on the most urgent and relevant vulnerabilities, while having full risk transparency in their factory. It is unique because it takes the specific situation of the customer’s operational environment into consideration while providing a single pane of glass for security-relevant information in the OT area,” says Dirk Didascalou, CTO of Siemens Digital Industries. “When developing the SINEC Security Guard, we drew on our extensive experience with cybersecurity in our own factories.”

Moreover, SINEC Security Guard supports manual asset information uploads and offers signature-based network intrusion and attack detection through the SINEC Security Guard Sensor app, available on the Siemens Industrial Edge Marketplace. While the initial release primarily supports Siemens OT assets, plans for third-party device support are in development, expanding the software's reach and impact.

Siemens recommends the use of its cloud-based Asset Management solution, the Industrial Asset Hub, for continuous automated asset inventory management, further enhancing operational efficiency and security.
